April stuff

We had a little fun at the hotel where we hunkered down
waiting for the power to come back on at home.  :)

Grandpa and Aubrey planting flower seeds.  She wants flower pots for her playhouse.

There must be a princess in the house.  :)

Ice Ice Baby....

Here are some photos of our recent ice storm.

This is a very happy picture.... Xcel Energy truck coming down the street.
Power restored after 82 hours without.

Piles of cut up branches along the curb waiting for pick-up.
Wayne spent hours cutting and piling.  Our big elms look pretty sad.

Family gathering at the hospital with Grandma Jensen.

Aubrey, Addilyn and Mason -- 3 of the great-grandkids.

Grandpa Jensen finally got his traditional pineapple upside down cake.
A little late for his birthday but a great dessert for our dinner!

Grandma Day - At the Zoo II

Aubrey and Grandma attended a zooclub class at the Great Plains Zoo again in February.
The kids learned about the rain forest and the animals who live there.

While we're waiting for class to begin the kiddos get to play with play dough.

 Storytime.

Learning the layers of the rain forest.

Art project.  Aubrey is the best cutter in the class  :)

A demonstration by a bird that would live in the rain forest -- if he didn't live at the zoo.

Florida 2013

Finally some pictures from our trip to Florida Jan 30 - Feb 6.

We flew into Fort Lauderdale and rented a car.  We drove to the Duncan Conference Center where Wayne attended a 'Head of Staff' training conference that he found very helpful.  Debbie had free time to visit, shop, walk on the beach, and mostly sit by the pool!!

Prayer labyrinth and outdoor worship space.

Here is the South Dakota gang who were attending the conference.
Kent Stillson from Lutheran Church of our Redeemer, Watertown, Wayne, and
Tim Sersen from Good Shepherd Lutheran, Aberdeen

****************

After the conference we drove south through the Florida Keys and stayed for 3 nights in Key West.
Driving across the overseas highway through the Florida Keys.

Southernmost Hotel - it was so nice!

 Our first Key West Sunset!!

One of the 3 pools at our hotel complex.

Key West resident.  Lots of chickens, roosters, and cats on this island.

The America 2.0.  We had a 2 hour sail on this schooner one afternoon.
One of the highlights of our stay in Key West.

Leaving the harbor... two cruise ships that were docked at Key West.

 Tank Island, Key West, Florida

The crew said we were sailing at about 11 knots!

Coming back into port.

 More Key West residents!

Each evening there is a Sunset Celebration at Mallory Square.
Vendors, street artists, music, and lots of crazy people!

And of course beautiful sunsets.

 Banyan Tree.

We read about Garbo's Grill and that it was one of the highest rated places to eat in Key West.
Found it... its a food cart!
